Today my biggest camera gear purchase ever arrived! The Canon EF 100-400mm L series lens that I ordered last week made it here safely. This is one HUGE lens, I'll say. I tried it out on a 5D MkII body in a store before I bought it, and I did not realize how small my camera really was. When the lens is attached and extended, it dwarfs my little Rebel XSi 450D. I have not yet had a chance to use it in any real capacity, but here are some shots of the new lens, and of my whole set of lenses.
I can't wait to get out into Colorado and start taking some photos with both my 16-35mm L and this new 100-400mm. The new telephoto in particular is exciting, as I'll finally be able to get some decent shots of birds that don't always come out soft, blurred, or otherwise generally unacceptable.
